It’s something that has been happening for a long time and no solutions have been made to stop it only punishments once the act has happened Let's look to how we are raising the boys and girls of this generation and the next. One only perpetuates rape culture if one doesn't instill what is right and wrong from a young age. ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
We can post and repost all we want but is it really going to do anything? Instead of starting a MAT movement try getting the governments to enforce harsher punishments for rape Uyinene's death and the way in which it was constantly posted and reposted made people take notice and MADE the authorities take notice and MADE the university take notice and MADE the media/news take notice and MADE the government take notice. Social media does have an impact even if it is a small one. As someone shared earlier "If you're not part of the solution or contributing to it then you're part of the problem" ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
I feel like the movement to fight against GBV and all is good but at the same time you can’t change a persons mindset using social media A person will only change if they want to change ,my project isn't aimed at changing anything it is aimed at sharing opinions even if those opinions are negative or something i don't agree with ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
Should we be put in the same bracket as *****s/prostitutes when we dress very close to naked? Since we put men(even those who are inconsiderate of our feelings as the original definition of MET meant) in the same bracket as rapists? No one should be put in any brackets until we understand that clothes/dressing are absolutely no excuse to rape and that the MET movement originally started as a platform for women to speak about the emotional and physical abuse they faced in their homes ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
$exual Harassment overall is a major problem but in the workplace it's a big no no, but CEO's are protected and when you do say something, you are either lying or it was meant as a "joke". Nobody takes it seriously It is unsettling that this behavior has been normalised in the work environment. No one should have to feel at risk in a space where they are meant to feel comfortable. 2/2 , but in the conversation of $exual harrasment, rape, GBV etc they are dangerously silent. But now you want to talk as soon as your gender gets called into the issue? GTFO. I agree. I am aiming to leverage the power of conversation and the fact that people should take notice of these issues even when they aren't heavily publicised. ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
1/2 #Menaretrash - I personally find it odd that all the people offended by this statement only stand up for themselves I think this is because some people find the name of the movement provocative and because it has been generalized to include men who aren't physically or emotionally abusive ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
I was r*ped twice in the span of two years.
A girl told me that it was my fault, a guy told me he'll never be able to date me because I am not a virgin.
But, a whole mens hostel protected me from the one guy for 6 months, and would walk me to class and back.
There is power in sharing your story and there is power in unity. There is also power in rediscovering your self worth and knowing that people should only be able to add to your happiness, not take away from it. Don't allow anyone to tell you that it was your fault. The fault lies with the perpetrator

If you're not part of the solution or contributing to it you're part of the problem I fully agree ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
I don't like the name menaretrash at all. I have a father, 3 brothers and a son who are decent hardworking providers for their families. I believe you and this movement was originally directed towards men who actually engage in physical/emotional abuse within the domestic setting ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
Perhaps by calling all woman gold diggers or ****s or snakes and all men trash is a good reason to create anger and misunderstanding? The problem doesn't lie within the labels, the problem lies within WHY these labels have been ascribed to certain people ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
I do have a problem with $exual harassment in any form. Whether it is towards a man woman child or elder, it shows a lack of repect for another human being, and is usually a sign of psychological problems, anger issues, poor self esteem (childhood abuse even). I agree that it is something humanitarian and not just something that speaks to the gender divide ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
Are psychological problems, anger issues, poor self esteem (childhood abuse even) good reasons to consider removal of the perpetrator from regular society? Good question, they are already intergrated into society so is it society that is the problem? ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
With regards to gender based violence it’s worrying that all of this has been happening under our noses for so long and we haven’t really known about/done anything about it until Uyinene’s story went viral It is upsetting that the public only began to take notice when her death was publicised , other people's stories have still not been heard ArtByTash replied 1818 days ago
